S-48 Dr. Pepper Machine
This classic machine was found in a very rough condition,
as are most machines of this age. Fortunately all the parts
were intact allowing us to do an authentic restoration. We
started by stripping each and every part off the machine and
then stripping the paint. Then each part was individually
restored to its original condition. This machine had a wooden
frame that was completely replaced then the body panels were
straightened out and given a new paint job and new Dr Pepper
decals, our D107
were applied to each side of the machine.Re-assembly began
with new insulation, then the bottle rack was re installed
after being dismantled and zinc plated and the brass parts
polished. The coin mechanism was given the same treatment
and reinstalled with new decals ( D64
& D65).
The coin door (which cover the coin mechanism) was restored
to new condition and a new lock ( HP20A)
was installed and the sold out flag was given a new decal(D62).
The front door was given a new gasket ( in this case our R1).The
compressor system on this Dr Pepper machine was dead so I
re-engineered it using only the original parts that were vital
to the fit and authenticity of the machine. The cooling system
is now a true 134A.
As you can see it has new fan motors. The condenser used is
our EP1
and on this particular machine the evaporator motor required
our EP4.
Fan blade for the condenser used our EP7
while the evaporator needed our EP8B.
Every machine is re-wired. The main harness is our
EP15. The thermostat required our EP18
as well as EP17
a new thermostat bracket. We also put new leg levelers,
HP103 for adjusting it to stand correctly on any surface.
While labor is a key element in any restoration our large
supply of reproduction vending machine parts such as the door
gasket, decals, breaker strips, locks and compressor brought
this vintage vending machine back to life!
The new lease of life our restoration gave to this vintage
soda machine is something the owners will be able to use and
enjoy for a long time to come.
