Westinghouse Closed Front Master with Vendo Coin-op Top
This machine was missing the drum that holds the bottles upright, we opted to deviate a bit from original by making out of plexi-glass. Originals were made of galvanized metal and sitting in water many just rusted away. The body panels were then straightened out and given a new paint job with all the lettering of the embossment done by hand. Only two decals were added to the body of this machine would be D67 which is the trademark sign that goes on the tail of Coca-Cola on the front of the machine. The other is our D69 that goes on the coin mech. However, they are quite often found with a “5C” on the front or sides of the machine. This was added after it left the factory by local distributors to help increase sales. The 5C decal is our D108. Each piece of the lid was given the same treatment as the body before everything was reassembled. The round top on the lid actually spins and is usually damaged by someone prying it open or sitting on it. The coin mech was also completely taken apart. The parts that could be zinc plated were and others needed a good polishing. It was then re-assembled to factory specifications. Our re-assembly of the machine began with new insulation. Then the pan (inside) was re installed after being cleaned and polished – it’s stainless steel. The body was given a new gasket, in this case our R15. The compressor system on this Westinghouse vending machine was still working. These are usually great units. The compressor was thoroughly checked over, bead blasted, flushed, repainted and we were able to use the original thermostat. Should a new thermostat be needed our EP19 would have been installed. The cooling system was able to stay a true R12. As you can see it has new condenser fan motor. The condenser used our EP9 fan motor mounting bracket, our EP1 motor on this particular machine along with a new fan blade our EP8C. The agitator was replaced with our EP25 and it required an EP26 for mounting. Every machine is re-wired. The main harness is our EP15. As you see this machine does have the drinking fountain and while many of you know we discourage the use of them 95% of the time. However in this case the owner wanted to keep the option his dad had ordered. While labor is a key element in any restoration our large supply of reproduction vending machine parts such as the door gasket, decals, breaker strips, locks, compressor parts brought this vintage vending machine back to life!
